How to Critically Appraise Scientific Articles

This training presents the process of carefully and systematically examining clinical research papers to judge its trustworthiness, and its value and relevance in a particular context. It is intended for health-care researchers who practice Evidence Based Medicine.
Objectives

At the end of the training, participants will:
- Understand the overall process of research and the structure of an article
- Differentiate between the different study designs used in clinical research
- Be familiar with the basics of statistical significance
- Understand the different biases that affect clinical research
- Be able to critically appraise observational and experimental studies
